I recently took the time to read Millennial Leaders by Bea Fields and would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about Gen Y.  The book features some great success stories from Millennials and tips on how to effectively communicate with Gen Y.  It is a great read for a Millennial wanting some inspiration and business tips from fellow Millennials or for anyone of any generation wanting some insights on successful Millennials and what makes them tick.

I recently watched this video from Dick Gaylord the President of the National Association of Realtors that discusses ten tips to boost your business. It’s a good piece and worth watching.  I think he forgot to mention one very important piece - as Jim Weichert once told me “follow up, follow up, follow up”……..

The average first time home buyer is 24 years younger that the average agent and 38 years younger than the average Broker.  So how do we bridge that gap?  I think it’s a matter of understanding how Gen Y communicates and finds information.

This is an excellent video that will give you some useful ideas:

Gen Y or Millennials (whatever you want to call us) are rapidly moving into the workforce and employers find themselves changing the way they recruit.  After all, we are considered a “go-getter” generation and a survey recently showed that 96% of us said “If I work hard, I can achieve my goals.”  Yes, we actually have goals and if your company can’t help me achieve them we will seek employment elsewhere.

I think one thing that is often overlooked when recruiting Gen Y talent is their commitment to community service.  I recently read that 50% of all Millennial professionals volunteered for a community service in high school and 44% of Millennials have participated in a community or charitable activity in the past 12 months.  It’s no wonder Barack Obama has laid out a plan to give a $4,000 college tuition credit to student volunteers.  Do you think this recruiting effort will work with Gen Y?  Well, take a look at this:

My suggestion; give back to the community you live in…….
