Gen Y or Millennials (whatever you want to call us) are rapidly moving into the workforce and employers find themselves changing the way they recruit.  After all, we are considered a “go-getter” generation and a survey recently showed that 96% of us said “If I work hard, I can achieve my goals.”  Yes, we actually have goals and if your company can’t help me achieve them we will seek employment elsewhere.

I think one thing that is often overlooked when recruiting Gen Y talent is their commitment to community service.  I recently read that 50% of all Millennial professionals volunteered for a community service in high school and 44% of Millennials have participated in a community or charitable activity in the past 12 months.  It’s no wonder Barack Obama has laid out a plan to give a $4,000 college tuition credit to student volunteers.  Do you think this recruiting effort will work with Gen Y?  Well, take a look at this:

My suggestion; give back to the community you live in…….
